Open Source ERP Live Online Sessions For ERP Beginners
After a short period of little updates of Open Source ERP Guru, I am back and happy to announce that I will be holding live session for ERP beginners. The series of sessions will make up an online ERP course.
These sessions will include an overview of ERP systems, basic concepts and hands-on sessions with one of the Open Source ERP solutions.
I believe that the combination of basic theoretical background along with hands-on exercise with an Open Source ERP system can provide a lot of value to anyone who is looking to get started in the great world of Enterprise Resource Planning.
I am considering using either Openbravo or OFBiz for the hands-on sessions. Both are web-based solutions and can provide a very good base for ERP beginners.
I will be using DimDim to host the live sessions. DimDim is a free, open source, online conferencing software, similar to Webex. Since DimDim’s free edition is limited to 20 members, the number of participants is limited. The live session are free,of course, so you don’t have to pay anything for participating.
If you are interested in taking part in one of live session, drop me a message and I will send you some more details.
As for schedules and detailed agenda of the online sessions, stay tuned-I will publish more information soon. You could also register to my RSS feed to get the latest updates from Open Source ERP Guru.

Great idea, but I’ll stay on hold until you decide to show off adempiere
But int he other hand, openbravo is also interesting of course… Might be there with you
regards
Hi Eren,
There are several very good open source ERP solutions out there and Adempiere is one of them.
The reason I prefer to use Openbravo or OFBiz is their web interface-it’s a more natural environment for people who are just starting with E.R.P.
I’m not sure about that, I’ve been selling ERP systems for some years but so far nobody have asked for a omplete web interface, though a portal with limited functionality, like inhouse sales or warehouse managment have awaken some interests.
A good webui should actually be portal based according to me, so that you can access different “forms/portlets” at once and with ease, without flipping tabs or open new browser windows. Portlets is the way for me. (if you don’t have certain roles in your company that needs only acces to a very limited data for their work)
I havent’ tried out openbravo that much though, but it annoyed me that you had to press “save” all the time, would not work for my customers.
Hello,
This is Jordi Mas from Openbravo. I’m charge of community development here. I have been following with interest your site for a few weeks.
I have seen that in the recent post you consider using Openbravo ERP for creating living free sessions.
Well, as you probably know we are working very hard in enhancing our product[1], documentation[2] (see also [3]) and mainly in all fronts.
If you need any help or assistance when producing the free videos please let me know. We know free documentation and videos to help people to how to use Openbravo ERP.
Thanks for your effort and keep up with the good job!
Jordi Mas

I’d be interested in these sessions. Have you started them yet? I am pretty sure that I will have my company begin using an ERP system, but I am having a hard deciding on which one.
I’d be interested in attending one of your online lessons too, as well as receive a copy of the documentation that Jordi may have provided.
However, your “contact” page returns a “404 not found” error. My e-mail address is included in the header, and my DimDim ID is alfred.dimitri.
Thanks in advance and great job on the site!
