Hi Yossi,

I'd also like to mention for the readers another leading Open Source ERP solution option that is built with modularity at its core - OpenERP (www.openerp.com). The system is built on top of OpenERP sa's OpenObject Rapid App Development framework. It is very extensible . . . and has a good ORM and well thought-out architecture at its core.

Currently there are approximately 150 certified modules available in the solution and an additional 350 available in the community.

Developer documentation can be found at doc.openerp.com for your readers if they are interested in learning more.

OpenERP has significant activity and velocity globally - your readers might find it valuable to know of another "modular" based open source ERP solution.

Best Regards,

David

Hi Ned,
Always a pleasure to have you here. I guess I couldn't explain better the xTuple extension capabilities!

Hi Yossi,

Just a quick note that xTuple ERP also has significant support for extending the application. For the past three releases (3.0, 3.1, and 3.2) we've built out a framework for creating custom UI screens (XML loadable from the database), controlled by Javascript, and loaded/managed by a Package Manager.

In the 3.2 release, we actually included a fully-functional embedded copy of Qt/Designer to make this even easier for non-developers. We've got a number of people in the community working on Packages that will be available for download at our forthcoming xTuple xChange website.

Some good documentation at http://wiki.xtuple.org/ScriptingGuide, http://wiki.xtuple.org/CreateUpdaterPackages and http://wiki.xtuple.org/WebClientPlans (to understand why we're doing things the way we are!)

Cheers,
Ned
